
The Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Hon. Dr. Gift Worlu, on Tuesday presided over the official swearing-in of newly appointed council officials during a well-attended ceremony at the Council Secretariat, Rumuodamaya.
Declaring the event a “momentous occasion anchored on unity, loyalty, and shared vision,” Hon. Dr. Worlu said the appointments were based on character, loyalty, and commitment to his administration’s development blueprint. He charged the officials to hit the ground running.
“A people united can never be defeated,” he said.
“Fold your sleeves, bring forward ideas that uplift our people, and let us build the Obio/Akpor of our dreams.”

Hon. Dr. Gift Worlu commended the unusual political harmony witnessed at the ceremony, noting the presence of top leaders of both the PDP and APC.
“When you see the state PDP chairman and APC chairman attend the same function in solidarity, it tells you something — that nothing can stand in our way to progress,” he remarked.
He thanked the magistrate for her professionalism and urged the appointees to remain focused and dedicated to service. “Progress we must make, and work we must do more.”
Speaking on behalf of all newly sworn-in officials, Barr. (Dr.) Kelvin Akani, the Council Secretary, expressed gratitude to the FCT Minister, His Excellency Nyesom Wike, the council chairman, and party leadership.
He said the appointments represent hope and a reward for loyalty. “We may not be the best, but grace has found us. What has happened today shows that anybody can be anywhere tomorrow.”
He assured the administration of total loyalty and performance: “Our integrity is at stake. We will not disappoint. At the end of this administration, we shall return with flying colours.”
In a vote of thanks, The Head of Local Government Administration, Mr. Sunny Nyeche Adibe thanked God and the council leadership for the seamless conduct of the event. “We have long awaited this day. May God lead everyone safely home.”
